Birthdays have been challenging during Covid-19. Parents have found creative ways to make birthdays special instead of traditional birthday parties. Here are a list of businesses providing special services to help celebrate.

Balloons

*If you are just wanting to purchase a few balloons instead of having a service provide them, here are some options.

*Dollar Tree in Edwardsville: Cost of Balloons: $1.00 each. They only have mylar balloons If you bring in your own mylar balloons, there is a fee to have them blown up. The fee is based on the sizes of balloons/number of balloons. They will not blow up Latex balloons. Weights will cost $1.00.

*To-Dos in Edwardsville: They have a huge selection of party supplies and balloons. They even have bubble machines. Balloon prices vary based on size and kind. They do offer curbside service.  https://www.to-dos.com 

*Schnucks in Edwardsville: Cost of Balloons: Solid Color Latex balloons: $1.99 Character or Round Mylar balloons with messages: $4.99 Large Mylar Balloons $12.99. You can NOT bring your own balloons to have them blown up. The clip weights are free. Heavy weights cost a small fee. It is best to give them a few hours notice to prepare balloons if possible.

*Dierbergs in Edwardsville: Cost of Balloons:  Solid Color Latex $1.99 or Mylar Character/Messages balloons $3.99-$15.00 based on size. You CAN bring your own balloons to have them blown up. It is usually $1.99 for latex balloons but depends on size. If you bring in Mylar 18inch balloons then they are typically the same prices as the ones for sale at Dierbergs. Dierbergs associate will determine cost to have your balloons blown up based on kind of balloon and size. Clips are free. Balloon weights are $1.49.

Experiences

*Brittain’s Princess Parties: Superheroes or Princesses can come visit your kiddos. Because of Covid-19, they are currently offering 30, 60 and 90 minute birthday party packages for in person parties. They also offer 30 minute virtual parties. Characters will not appear in masks unless requested but will try to do their best to social distance. Actors are tested twice each week if they attend school. *Snowy Sweets: An ice cream truck that can show up at your house for a fee. Visit their Facebook page, call (618)550-8781, or email mcfallsmccallum@aol.com for details. 

*Jammin Jumpers: They rent out inflatables, obstacle courses, and games and bring them to your home. They clean and sanitize the equipment on-site for you. On the website, it says bounce houses range from $125- $400 depending on type, size, features, and date bounce house is needed. https://www.jamnjumpers.com

*Lessons: Depending on what your child is interested in, you can choose lessons such as horseback riding lessons, art classes, music classes, acting classes, gymnastic classes. Look at this animal lover blog and the indoor activities section for classes I have found.

Presents

*Happy Up: Toy Store in Edwardsville. You can look at toy selection online, place order, and pick up gift curbside. They also offer in store shopping by appointment or as space allows. *Afterwords Bookstore: Book Bundles for all ages/$35 dollars each

 

Treats

*Glazy Squares:  Number donut treat instead of birthday cake. Each number is 12-14 inches tall and is $14. To place order, call the location you’d like to pick up from. Collinsville (618)344-0200 and Edwardsville (618)692-5242. They need a two day advanced notice on orders.

*A Little Taste of Heaven Bakery: This bakery has provided many themed cookies for my family. We were pleased with the cookies and the process to order was easy. https://heavenbakery.com

*Kaylin Jones Cupcakes: If you look at her facebook, you will find a ton of creative treats! She was great to work with and is detail oriented. She made some Mario themed cupcakes for us that were tasty as well as cute to look at.
