Trick or Treating and Halloween parties will be different this year due to the pandemic. Here is a list of ways to celebrate Halloween in our community.

Halloween Events (Sorted by Date/Time)

*Halloween Light Display on Barbarotto Lane Maryville, IL: Starts 10/5/2020 and ends 10/31/2020. It starts from 6:30pm to 10pm nightly. Tune radio to 93.3 FM to hear music synced to lights.

*Trunk or Treat at The Shoppes at Trace on the Parkway Edwardsville: Saturday, October 31st, at 8am-12pm at the Trace on the Parkway shoppes (6150 Trace Parkway Drive). Morning of costumes, candy, and shopping.

*Owl-A-Ween at Treehouse Wildlife Center Dow, IL: Saturday, October 31, at 10am – 5:30pm. (There are 1.5 hour time slots) You will receive: a randomly selected Halloween bag, crafts, activity sheets, and owl photos. You will be able to visit with several of the Education Ambassadors. All participants are asked to wear masks. Professor Longhair will be creating balloon animals and doing a few magic tricks. You must make a reservation. Cost is $10 per child. Each time block will be limited to 50 guests total. Go to facebook event to confirm time and pay via credit card either through the website’s PayPal or calling the Tree house. www.treehousewildlifecenter.com/donate. If it rains, a drive-thru event will occur.

*Spooktacular Improv Storytime with StagePlay Learning: Saturday, October 31st, at 11am at the Edwardsville Children’s Museum Garden. You must register as seating is limited. https://edwardsvillechildrensmuseum.org/event/stageplay-spooktacular-performance/

*Halloween Bash Edison’s Entertainment Complex in Edwardsville: Saturday, October 31st, 11:30am – 8pm. Come in with your costume on and get a three hour all-access pass for just $15, a savings of $7. There will also be a costume contest with prizes.

*Main Street Trick or Treating: Saturday, October 31st, 12-2pm on Main Street and Vandalia in Edwardsville. Wear your costume/ mask and take part in safe, social distancing trick-or-treating on the sidewalk of local participating businesses.

*Mask up for Halloween Candy Trail: Saturday, October 31st, 12pm-5pm at Glik Park in Highland, IL. There will be local businesses around the candy trail for the kids to safely go to and collect some goodies. There will also be a pumpkin carving contest from 12pm to 4pm with the winner being announced around 4:30pm. The event is hosted by Highland Parks and Recreation.

*Drive-Thru TrunkFest: Saturday, October 31st, from 2pm to 4pm at First Baptist Church Maryville. The parking lot will have decorated vehicles. Families will be asked to stay in their vehicles as they drive through the parking lot to see all the decorated cars. Then at the end of the line, they will give each car pre-packaged candy.

*East Alton Ice Arena Trunk or Treat: Saturday, October 31st, from 2pm to 5pm in the East Alton Ice Arena parking lot (631 Lewis and Clark Blvd East Alton, IL). The event is FREE. There is a public skate session from 1-2:45pm ($6 admission and $3 skater rental).

*Trunk or Treat at Troy United Methodist Church: Saturday, October 31st, 3pm-5pm at the Troy UMC parking lots. Volunteers are supposed to practice social distancing and wear masks.

*Drive Thru Trick or Treat at Maryville Pharmacy (2700 North Center Street): Saturday, October 31st, 5pm to 7pm. Gather trick or treaters into a vehicle and come by the pharmacy. They will be giving out a goodie bag.

*Halloween Party at the Plaza at 127 Eastgate Plaza in East Alton: Saturday, October 31st, 5-8pm. Blue Ice Creamery will bring a trailer with straw to pull with a truck for a hayride around the plaza for people to grab some treats. Several local businesses participating.

*Halloween Skate Weekend at Tri-Township Park Activity Center: Saturday, October 31st, 7-9pm. Wear your costume and get a free hot chocolate. Only 25 people will be let in per skate. Register here to guarantee your spot: tritownshippark.org.

Library Halloween Activities (Sorted by Event Date/Turn in Date)

*Collinsville Memorial Library Center: Kids are invited to pick up a Treat bag curbside during service hours the week of October 26th -31st. Just call 344-1112 to let them know you are there and they will bring the bags out to you. First come, first serve while supplies last.

*Trick-or-Treat at Edwardsville Library: Kids can wear their costumes and masks to the library during regular hours on October 30th and 31st to pick up a small treat bag at the youth desk.

*Virtual Halloween Puppet Show at Edwardsville Library: The annual puppet show will take place virtually via facebook on October 31st at 10am. Kids will hear songs and stories followed by a special puppet show.

Fun Runs

*Haunted Halloween Hustle: 6.66K Saturday, October 31st, 7:30am -11:30am. Costumes are encouraged. Exact start times will be communicated the week leading up to the race via email due to social distancing rules. Start groups will consist of 10-20 people. The race starts at Korte Rec Center and will end at Glik Park. Parking will be available at the Korte Rec Center or Glik Park.
